Found a New Quote & I Love it!

I don't know where I read it, but at least I jotted down who said it:

"The Lord will not wish to count my trophies, but my scars."

-Frank Laubach

Man, is that good or what? If that spoke to you, jot it down! And when you get hurt, remember He is aware of the scar it may leave. He sees each tear we cry and He hears us when we fall...

Do You Text & Drive?

Today, along I-595, I saw Verizon's new billboard. It had four words on it: "Don't text while driving." It reminded me of the tobacco campaigns to stop smoking; the booze campaigns to not drink and drive. The billboard struck me with the realization that texting while driving is as toxic and fatal. I am a terrible texter-driver. Lately, as the awareness is being raised, so is my conviction level!

LeadHership Christmas Goals

Tonight, the leadHers & I met to come up with some group-goals for this Christmas at Flamingo Road Church.

Hands & Feet Goal: To not serve at the Hands and Feet events with each other. Rather, with an individual or group we've invited from outside our church.
Christmas Invite Cards Goal: As part of Pastor Troy's challenge to hand out 100,000 invite cards, we will each hand out 100 between Nov. 24-Dec. 16.

OK, so now that I've put this out there, I give you all access to hold my butt accountable!

And thanks, team. You guys have an overdose of leadHership potential inside of each of you. This Thanksgiving, I give thanks for you.

Flip Us a Bird & NBC!

We had our 2nd "Flip Us a Bird" event this weekend where we challenge everyone to immediately leave service, run to a local grocery story, buy a turkey, ham or pie and drop it back off to our "Flip Us a Bird" station. This effort will feed thousands of hungry folk this Thanksgiving. It is so cool to be a part of this. Huge giving of thanks to ALL who flipped a bird. God bless you!

Thanksgiving Speaking Opportunity

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to speak at the Keller Williams annual Thanksgiving Luncheon (you can read last year's, here). The audience is totally diverse in religion, age, ethnicity, position, title and stage of life. What a challenge to be one mouth speaking to so many different ears. But God did. And praying that no matter who they were or where they've come from--they sensed God's love and heard His voice.

Me, My BFF & the Year 1981

Wow!!!! Recently, I reconnected with my childhood bud, Jeri, on Facebook. It has been a HUGE blessing. I haven't seen this picture of us playing dress-up for like 25 years. Seeing it was like going into a "Back to the Future" vortex--with years, tears, smiles and memories flying past me. I encourage you to use Facebook for the GOOD things it provides. Time, miles and pain may have separated you from another. Let Facebook reunite you. Life's too short to let your relationships fall away for good.

A quote for pastors (& those who have a pastor)

I read this quote in "Outreach" magazine. When I did, it was like cold water poured onto my head, like a great cold-water wake-up call:

"Don't be a pastor if it's just an option. It has to be the only thing that your heart burns like fire in your bones to do, because it will kill you."

If you are a pastor, those words will mean something to you. If you are not a pastor, they still mean something to you because they express what your pastors are willing to do for the calling God's placed on them.
