Happiest States in America. Bittersweet

On Twitter, I saw a tweet for a recent study revealing the Happiest States in America. I checked it out (study, here) & the results were bittersweet. My residence of the last 12 years, Florida, made it to Number 3. Whoo hoo, Go Florida! But my childhood residence, of which I'm typically proud of, didn't bode too well. Illinois came in at a crappy Number 45.

Where you from?? How'd your ole' stomping grounds fair?

I am a native Floridian and I'm kind of surprised that we made it so high up on that list considering our unemployment level above the national average and the high rate of foreclosures.

Maybe the great weather that we have outweighs all that.

My current state, AL, fared really well at #9. Great year-round weather, close to FL, friendly people, low cost of living, what's not to like? My childhood state, Colorado, came in at #21. Surprising, because there is so much to love about it, especially in Denver. Guess the cold & snow, high cost of living, and burgeoning population dragged the happiness factor down!
