A quote for pastors (& those who have a pastor)

I read this quote in "Outreach" magazine. When I did, it was like cold water poured onto my head, like a great cold-water wake-up call:

"Don't be a pastor if it's just an option. It has to be the only thing that your heart burns like fire in your bones to do, because it will kill you."

If you are a pastor, those words will mean something to you. If you are not a pastor, they still mean something to you because they express what your pastors are willing to do for the calling God's placed on them.

with that being said...huge thank you to all the FRC Pastors and Pastors around the globe for the sacrifices you make for the call on your lives.

Hmmm-- I don't want to say too much about that quote for now, but it is something that I wonder if I am currently starting to see in the church I attend.

By the way,
I wanted you to check out my posts for today and tomorrow. They are about a musician who you might enjoy hearing about since you enjoy Yanni.
Check him out and let me know what you think:

In the future I will be doing interview features with others with interesting vocations, websites, or something else to promote that may be interesting to others. Upcoming soon will be an interview with up and coming New Jersey artist,Ada Jackson of collagepodge.com -- check out her work.

Thanks
Lee

It kind of draws a line in the sand. A lot of people get star struck by leaders. It's almost like the idea of having real authority has some sort of glamour. Pastors don't just lead people and make decisions- they build them, make them into disciples, take them to the next level. It's the one form of leadership where you mourn with those who mourn, and rejoice with those who rejoice. People get your heart when you're pastoring them. It's more than a status, stage time, an office, or title. It's actually getting into peoples' lives and serving them. Wasn't it Jesus who said if you want to be first, you have to be last? Doesn't make much corporate sense. It's tough for people to earn influence through humble and lowly serving. That's why it's a calling and a burning passion. Thanks Heather.
