Pay It Forward (encouragement, that is)

I know two people who are really struggling. One is a family member, one is a friend. They've been on my heart so much lately. If you've ever "walked through the valley" & are on the other side of it, could you please leave a comment for them? A prayer. A verse. A word of encouragement. A thought on how you got through it. I'll let them know this post is dedicated to them. Thank you for your willingness.

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

1 Thess. 5:11

There is always winter. But there is always spring, too.

Psalm 3:5
I Lie down and sleep. I wake again b/c the Lord sustains me.
If I wake b/c I am grieving, If I wake b/c I am reliving the events of a loved ones' death, if I wake b/c I must face another day of living in the midst of my overwhelming grief...My God will sustain me.

3 things I wrestled through:

1.Is God good? (Read the Psalms)

2.Does God care about the details (the pain in my life) or is it insignificant to Him? (coupled with the Psalms, ask God to open your eyes to His involvemnet in your grief & your every day life....JOURNAL every time you see Him move/work!!
3. Why am I still here? What is my purpose? (I asked myself this question: If I could talk to my loved one now that he has seen Jesus...what would he tell me to do with my life?)...

God IS good, He DOES care, and He has a GREAT plan for you...Keep living...He will sustain you.

Scripture that got me through:
Philippians 4:6-7
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Quote that got me through also from Will Rogers - "The worst thing that happens to you can be the best thing for you, if you don't let it get the best of you."

Exactly a year ago Satan tried to get the best of our son and our family--but after two months, God reigned and we rejoiced in the end!

I've been in a valley, recently and it was you my friend that was there as I climbed through it. So having you in their life is encouraging as it is. But as you sent me one time that I will never forget:

Be still and know that I am God.

The Lords been taking me to Psalm 34 this past week..It's all good but a few verses really stood out for me..
34:4 "I sought the Lord, and He answered and delivered me from all my fears"

34:6 "This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him from all his troubles"

34:18 "The Lord is near the brokenhearted; He saves those crushed in spirit"

I have been in the valley a few times over the past 2 1/2 years. I don't have a specific scripture that talks to my heart. There are many.... But I do always remember the service about the unwanted gift in the pretty box with a beautiful bow. The funny one that Pastor Troy passed out the gifts. The socks and underwear of LIFE. And how those gifts are what prepare us for the BIG gift. Also the service that talked about the obsticle before the blessing. I have been through so many obsticles in the past few months but I am paciently waiting for the blessing and I am so close to it. I have left all my problems in God's hand and I know that he will help me sort them out and get throught them.... God is amazing that way.... He answers our prayers in 3 ways... Yes, No , and Wait and it is not on OUR timetable it is his.... Sit, pray and be patient it will come....

There are so many but my favorites are

Colossians 1:11 - essentially God will give us what we need for the battle if we will not give up

Even my word today is applicable - 1 Peter 1:7 - Faith, like gold, is put through the fire to prove it genuine - we are assured of our faith during the tough times.

I am just on the other side of a winter/spring season and in my case we are approaching the harvest... hang in there. You are promised victory - just stay the course.
