1 Billion What?

Today, 1,ooo,ooo,ooo people are...
attending church?
buying new cars?
in debt?
using cell phones?
overweight?
None of the above.
Today, 1,000,000,000 people are hungry in the world. According to U.N. food officials, the global financial meltdown has pushed the ranks of the world’s hungry to a record 1 billion people. Today, if you say a blessing before you eat, perhaps include a prayer for those who won't. With God, all things are possible.

Every meal my prayer is to bless the hands of those who have made it and the people who don't have any. God is amazing and my prayer is for those 100,000,000 hungry people.

Heart wrenching/horrific stats..I was watching Rick Warren speak this past weekend and he was saying that there are 138 million orphans in this world..Another staggering statistic..Praying for the hungry/parentless/helpless & homeless!

Prayer isn't enough. Sorry to be harsh, but we need to stand up and be more physically productive. Please don't be personally offended when I say that I think "I'm praying for them" can sometimes be a cop-out. It costs pennies a day - way less than a Starbucks coffee - to feed a child. Check out World Vision for more info. There are other reputable organizations as well, but World Vision is sponsored by such organizations as Women of Faith, Mary Graham, and others. Times are tough, but if we can buy a Starbucks once a week, we can feed a child.

Once again, hope no one was offended by the previous comment. Your prayers are invaluable. My statement was a blanket statement. God bless your faithfulness!

I'd like to give a shout out for Compassion International, another wonderful organization. I decided to sponser a child through them after hearing Michael W Smith & Stephen Curtis Chapmen speak about them and knowing how involved they are with the organization. I like knowing that i've made a difference in at least one child {& the families} life. I would love to be able one day to sponsor many more.
